Just like in the Shining Force games, this game will use Land Effect. Basiclly, different terrain will both affect how much damage you take and your character's movement range. It's important that you guys know this section or refer to it often, as it will quickly get tedious if people have to redo actions because they've moved either too much or too little.
There are several types of terrain. These include sky, even ground, paths and bridges, overgrowth, forests, mountains, sand and snow.

The distance that can be travelled on the battlefield = x squares - L.E. penalty for x squares. This number can't be under 0. For example, a centaur with a move of 7 moves one square on sand. This takes 3 move away from 7 (-1 from the square moved, -2 from sand land effect), so there's 4 move left. The centaur moves another sand square, which takes another 3 move away. In all, this means 6 movement squares have been used up, so there's only 1 left. This means, on any terrain that has a movement impairment, no more moving can be taken. However, if there's terrain with no movement penalties adjacent to the character, that can be moved on to.
The top section shows how much of a bonus characters get from the land types. This bonus applies to damage dealt. The numbers below represent the penalty to movement the characters will get when moving on terrain of that type.
Note: the Birdman and the Dragonman (if he has wings) do not benefit from the land effect bonus. Whilst Magic Creatures hover (and so suffer no movement penalties), they still benefit from the land effect bonus.
